Joy Kathryn Landis-Carton

August 5, 1933 ~ September 28, 2017 (age 84)

Joy Kathryn Landis – Carton

If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart.  I’ll be there forever.

Her journey began on August 5th, 1933 in Longmont, Colorado. Her parents were Hilmer Landis and Zelda Adams.

She met the love of her life, Leo Carton, at the age of 14. They were married on March 9th, 1948 in San Antonio, Texas.  He had been waiting to be reunited with her in Heaven since 2015.  We assume they are enjoying a foxtrot together again!

She was the proud mother of 5 children - Leota, Lori, Carol, Dan, and Brad; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She worked as a Librarian (both for the local school and StorageTek) as well as at other small jobs.

She adored animals of every shape and size – her lifelong dream was to live on a large ranch.  She also loved reading, movies, apple pie, cooking for loved ones, socializing with friends and family, baseball/softball, time with grandchildren, and Italian food.

She was a strong woman with deeply held beliefs that transcended her times.  She could always be counted on for her critical reasoning.  Despite not having much formal education, she possessed a keen wit and her ability to point out “bs” was unmatched.

Her travels to Alaska, the mountains, and short road trips with her grandchildren were among her favorites.

She was the North Star for her friends and family. Her Earthly journey ended on September 28th 2017, but we hope her adventures continue. She will be missed!

Those we love don’t go away.  They walk beside us every day.  Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, forever dear.
